About The Position

Paint Manager Job Description Department: Paint Job Status: Full-Time FLSA Status: Salary-Exempt Reports To: Randall Pruitt Location: Ponca City, OK Amount of Travel Required: 5% – 10% Work Schedule: Monday - Friday Positions Supervised: Paint Department POSITION SUMMARY: The Paint Manager will be responsible to direct and coordinate the activities, schedule and resources of the paint employees. This position will be required to oversee all paint-related tasks. This manager will coordinate all paint process improvements; while working with Engineers, Operations and Maintenance as well as the paint supply chain.

Requirements

  • Successfully passes background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment aptitude and competency assessment(s).
  • Possesses a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Daily in-person, predictable attendance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3-5 years of supervisor experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years in a paint setting.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend advanced English, with the ability to effectively communicate with people operating at all levels of the company and in a variety of situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Possess strong analytical thinking skills, including creative and critical thinking and data analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to act with a high degree of integrity and ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge and experience as a practitioner of continuous improvement methodologies, Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and/or Six Sigma to eliminate waste and improve efficiencies.
  • Knowledge of paint production processes.
  • Ability to accept added responsibility.
  • Ability to provide appropriate reports.
  • Knowledge and experience with ERP systems in Discrete Manufacturing; preferably with Made2Manage ERP.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision to achieve customer satisfaction and timely delivery of products.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Automotive Technology, Fine Arts, or Business preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct employees about the 6S Lean program, to ensure the workspace is efficient and effective
  • Forecast painting schedule for outgoing orders and equipment
  • Establish coating application standards such as primer, paint, clear coat, curing and repair
  • Motivate and coach the department team members to focus on paint improvements
  • Coordinate facilities and vendors to support painting operations and schedule preventative maintenance
  • Responsible for following departmental employee objectives, standards or directions
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with all safety, quality, inventory and production guidelines
  • Ability to Manage up to 40+ employees
