About The Position

The PACS Administrator is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and optimization of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and related cardiology imaging technologies within a healthcare environment. This role ensures seamless integration between imaging systems and hospital information systems, supporting efficient clinical workflows and contributing to high‑quality patient care. The PACS Administrator partners closely with cardiology clinicians, application teams, vendors, and internal Information Technology staff to support system functionality, troubleshoot issues, and enhance workflow efficiency. This role also analyzes business and clinical needs, translating them into effective technical solutions while adhering to organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Ability and means to travel throughout the UVM Health System is required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 2+ years of experience with PACS application or system support and/or clinical experience supporting Cardiology or other medical imaging workflows
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, HL7, DICOM, and software integration

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and optimization of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and related cardiology imaging technologies
  • Ensure seamless integration between imaging systems and hospital information systems
  • Support efficient clinical workflows and contribute to high‑quality patient care
  • Partner closely with cardiology clinicians, application teams, vendors, and internal Information Technology staff to support system functionality, troubleshoot issues, and enhance workflow efficiency
  • Analyze business and clinical needs, translating them into effective technical solutions while adhering to organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with end users to understand workflow requirements
  • Coordinate with vendors and technical teams on system enhancements and issue resolution
  • Ensure cardiology imaging systems are reliable and optimized for clinical use
  • Provide on‑call or off‑hours support, which may include coverage outside of standard business hours
