About The Position

The packaging lead is the front line leader for the packaging team. With guidance from packaging supervisor you will manage the staff through the assigned packaging tasks on your shift. The packaging lead is able to operate and generally maintain all packaging equipment. They know when to delegate a task and when to dig in and get your hands dirty. They will execute with best judgement to meet quality standards while working to meet the production demands. At the end of each shift you will do your best to position the next team for success. Bilingual candidates are a plus. The hourly rate for this position will fall in the range of $26-29/hr. This is a full time position and will be eligible for our full benefit package (medical, dental, etc) including time off and beer hall discounts. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Ensure a safe work environment and a culture that embraces safe work habits, understanding of the risks, compliance with GMP regulations, and prioritizing corrective action of any identified safety hazards and risks. Lead the shift in execution of the scheduled production to reasonable efficiency. Responsible for respectfully communicating all tasks expected of your team members. Identify staffing issues and report them to your supervisor if you are unable to rectify them. Participate in the running of scheduled packaging machinery. Execute basic to intermediate troubleshooting efforts on malfunctioning equipement. Keep track of materials needed for production and work with shipping and receiving to correct any internal transfers. All materials that need to be ordered externally report to your supervisor. Ensure that all sanitation tasks are completed according to SOP and QC verified. Ensure all production completed during your shift has been accurately documented. Uses Orchestrated Beer software to receive finished goods as they are completed. Work with the brewing and blending team to determine tasks that need to be completed in the cellar. Ensures routine quality checks are being performed and documented accurately. Responsible for training of less skilled team members through personal actions and pairing with skilled operators, maintenance staff, and scheduled company learning opportunities. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proven skill in the operation of all assigned company equipment.
  • Proven ability to effectively troubleshoot assigned equipment through common issues.
  • A working knowledge of all job stations within the packaging department.
  • Competent at Orchestrated Beer functions related to packaging.
  • Willingness to cross-train on any and all tasks necessary to complete a packaging run.
  • Demonstrates ability to lead through effective communication and respectable conduct.
  • Adaptability to challenges, changes, and set-backs with a reasonably professional demeanor.
  • Flexible in scheduling to accommodate needs of the production department.

Nice To Haves

  • Occupational training in beer and beverage packaging theory.
  • Occupational training in beer and beverage quality control.
  • Occupational training in related fields of automation and/or machining.
  • Education or training in management, dispute mitigation, human resources.
  • Ability to speak English and Spanish fluently

  • Coaching of team conduct as it pertains to routine quality and efficient behavior.
  • Scheduling of breaks, scheduling of sensory attendance, monitoring in/out times if needed.
  • Training less skilled staff through direct interaction and by utilizing SOP documents.
  • Validates training efforts are progressing, reports progress periodically to their supervisor.
  • Facilitate training of staff by providing access to external training sessions.
  • Responsible for requesting assistance from Supervisor and Maintenance as necessary.
  • Confronts unreasonable conduct of team members in the moment.
  • Following up with a Supervisor to determine corrective actions and/or improvement plans.
  • Ultimately responsible for ensuring the quality of goods produced during their shift and reporting deficiencies to their supervisor in a timely manner.
