We are looking for Packaging Engineer to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Program Manager, Packaging Engineer and will be based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of packaging materials (corrugated, paperboard, plastics, foams, films, etc.) and packaging engineering principles.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD) and packaging test standards (ISTA, ASTM).
  • Experience supporting packaging manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and vendor‑management abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in packaging development, testing, or manufacturing (typically 2–5+ years depending on level).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize packaging solutions that meet product protection, cost, sustainability, and branding requirements.
  • Create and maintain packaging specifications, drawings, and documentation using CAD tools.
  • Perform packaging validation testing (drop, vibration, compression, environmental, transit).
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams including Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, and Marketing to launch new products and improve existing packaging.
  • Lead packaging-related projects from concept through commercialization, managing schedules, vendor communication, and deliverables.
  • Support manufacturing and packaging line trials and troubleshoot packaging issues during production.
  • Evaluate new materials and technologies and drive cost‑reduction and sustainability initiatives.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for packaging‑related quality issues and support corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with packaging standards, regulatory requirements, and customer guidelines.
  • May include 10% travel. Also local travel between Bay Area facilities.
