Packaging Design Intern

About The Position

As a full time Design intern, you will collaborate with experienced designers, sales teams, and production staff to support the development of packaging concepts from the initial idea through final production. This position provides valuable exposure to real-world design challenges, including sustainability considerations, structural integrity, branding and client specific requirements

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The individual must be able to develop a working knowledge of the following: Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • Product layouts and production specifications
  • Product quality specifications
  • Quality standards

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing corrugated packaging using CAD and packaging design software
  • Create and modify box styles, inserts, and protective packaging solutions
  • Support prototype development, sampling, and performance testing
  • Prepare basic drawings, specifications, and bill of materials
  • Collaborate with design, production, and sales teams on customer projects
  • Help evaluate material usage, cost efficiency, and sustainability opportunities
  • Maintain design files and documentation
  • Learn and follow corrugated industry standards (FEFCO, RSC, die-cut styles, etc.)
