DEFINITION The packager is responsible for performing final inspection of all parts before packaging and palletizing product. Parts are packaged and palletized according to repetitive standard steps to ensure that all product is complete and accurate before being sent to the customer. The packager is expected to weigh every hitch package and ensure that all parts are complete and accurate. The packager keeps daily record of quantities and models of product packaged during shift. In addition to the daily packaging schedule, the packager also fills Purchase Orders (PO). A Purchase Order is an internal order for manufactured or stock parts. The Production Supervisor prints a copy of the PO and gives it to the packager. The packager is then responsible for pulling, preparing, and palletizing all parts on the PO within 24 hours. If there are insufficient parts to fill a PO, the packager must immediately inform the Production Supervisor. The packager is responsible for promptly communicating to the Production Supervisor any inventory needs required for daily packaging. The packager is responsible for accuracy of all packaged and palletized product and accuracy in all purchase order requests.

Responsibilities

  • Performing final inspection of all parts before packaging and palletizing product
  • Packaging and palletizing product according to repetitive standard steps
  • Weighing every hitch package and ensure that all parts are complete and accurate
  • Keeping daily record of quantities and models of product packaged during shift
  • Filling Purchase Orders (PO)
  • Pulling, preparing, and palletizing all parts on the PO within 24 hours
  • Informing the Production Supervisor if there are insufficient parts to fill a PO
  • Communicating to the Production Supervisor any inventory needs required for daily packaging
  • Ensuring accuracy of all packaged and palletized product and accuracy in all purchase order requests
  • Properly use all required person protective equipment
  • Following all safety guidelines and instructions
  • Working to maintain and improve a safe work environment
  • Performing consistent visual inspection of all parts for defects or problems
  • Seeking out ways for continually improve quality processes while being able to pass monthly standard operating procedure audits
  • Hitting and maintain time standards
  • Following all standard operating procedures and correctly record and report daily and weekly tasks
  • Understanding the Kanban system
  • Producing the right parts, in the right quantity, at the right time
  • Completing of a daily cleaning assignment
  • Maintaining a clean and well organized workstation with tools cleaned and in designated area at the end of every shift and be able to pass month 5S and cleaning audits
  • Arriving on time for regular shift (6:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Thursday)
  • Staying on task and at workstation during the entire shift
  • Arriving to meetings on time and returning from breaks and lunch at appointed time
  • Painting parts
  • Placing stickers and decals on finished product
  • Upkeep and maintenance of paint tubs and equipment
  • Touching up and repainting parts as needed
  • Maintaining finished parts inventory stocked and well organized
  • Maintaining packaging supplies and material stocked and well organized (may require forklift)
