About The Position

Popular Association Loan Closing Mgmt We are currently sourcing for a Closing Officer. This position will be responsible for closing due diligence and documentation of commercial loans in the Loan Documentation team in Popular Bank. In this position, you will: Receive and review requests for closing community association commercial loans. Be responsible for effectively processing a high volume of loan requests under minimum level of supervision, by obtaining, verifying, completing, and maintaining all necessary loan documentation. Review and research lit/lien, title searches, and title commitments, and work with loan officer to clear all exceptions. Ensure that all formation documentation such as Articles of Incorporation, Certificates of Trust, Certificates of Good Standing, Corporate Resolutions, Bylaws etc., are included in the loan package, as applicable. Review types of collateral being taken by the Bank, for appropriate documentation and to ensure Bank’s ability to perfect its position. Update the Loan Closing Access Database and/or related applications to ensure all pre-closing conditions, documentation, and requirements are met prior to funding. Coordinate closings with Borrower’s attorney and Bank’s counsel. Funding: Review loan documentation and prepare boarding package to ensure that all required documentation is signed and included. Funding: Ensure the accuracy of wire instructions, obtain insurance certificates, verify holds, verify deposit account openings, obtain proof of UCC filing, and obtain any other documents as required. Post-Closing: Complete closing checklist, send Welcome Letter, and ensure all post-closing ticklers are updated in a timely manner. Maintain a specialized knowledge of the documentation department’s function, terminology, policies and procedures, and related laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support departmental operations.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical/math skills to identify and resolve problems.
  • To provide service excellence by identifying key client business issues, determining client needs by supplementing the standard assessment techniques and tools with innovative approaches, evaluating and validating analysis and developing recommendations for the business.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to take initiative in owning multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with a minimum 2 to 4 years prior commercial lending experience in a high volume closing unit is required.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
  • This position is not open to applicants who need visa sponsorship or transfer of visa sponsorship at this time.

  • Metavante/FIS IBS Insight experience is highly preferred.
