Join Vibrint, where your career is a priority, and your future is our shared goal. ______________________________________________________________________ We are seeking a proactive Platform as a Service (PaaS Engineer) to join our team in support of the Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) environment. The PaaS Engineer will assist the Program Management Office (PMO) oversee and support the design, deployment, and maintenance of the cloud infrastructure underpinning the GIS platform. This role emphasizes Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to ensure repeatable, secure, and highly available deployments across both cloud and on-premise systems while keeping mission needs and performance requirements at the forefront. The PaaS Engineer monitors vendor activities related to deployment pipeline development, automated provisioning, and infrastructure maintenance. The role assists the Government Program Management Office (GPMO) in managing cloud and on-prem resources, to include AWS, UDS, and Enterprise GIS components to ensure the environment remains cost-optimized, resilient, and performant. This position supports Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline oversight, ensuring vendors maintain properly functioning build, test, and deployment workflows. The role also verifies that observability tooling, to include auto-scaling, load balancing, logging, monitoring, and alerting has been properly configured. Engineer advises the GPMO on vendor tool selection, licensing, and cost considerations to ensure effective resource utilization. Security responsibilities include reviewing vendor-implemented network security controls and ensuring compliance with enterprise cybersecurity standards. The role also provides oversight for container orchestration, ensuring the GIS PaaS platform can support microservices, containerized GIS servers, and managed geospatial workloads. Key deliverables include assessments of vendor deployment scripts, validated CI/CD pipelines, system health dashboards, alerting rules, and security compliance reports, all contributing to a stable and mission-ready hosting environment for GIS SMEs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps engineering, or platform services engineering supporting enterprise-scale environments.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, to include networking, compute, storage, and managed container services.
  • Familiarity with Unified Data Systems (UDS), hybrid cloud deployments, and management of on-premise infrastructure components supporting GIS workloads.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release management for distributed applications.
  • Strong understanding of system monitoring, observability stacks (e.g., CloudWatch, Grafana, ELK), auto-scaling, and load balancing.
  • Ability to evaluate vendor deployment artifacts, identify risks, and recommend improvements to ensure reliability, repeatability, and security.
  • Active TS/SCI and ability to obtain/maintain CI Poly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting geospatial platforms or enterprise environments with complex data, analytics, or visualization components.
  • Familiarity with Esri Enterprise, OGC services, containerized GIS services, or microservices architectures.
  • Working knowledge of DevSecOps, secure pipeline practices, and automated security scanning.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or similar container orchestration technologies.
  • Cloud certification(s) such as AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Experience advising PMO/GPMO teams on cloud cost management, vendor tooling, and infrastructure optimization strategies.
