Position Summary: Excel Engineering is seeking an Owner's Representative for Automation Engineering to act as the Owner’s subject-matter expert for DCS, PLC, SCADA, BMS, EMS, and data historian systems. Ensures automation architecture, software design, and field execution meet GAMP 5, ISA-88/95, and cybersecurity (IEC 62443) requirements while maintaining alignment with URS and process control narratives.   • Document Review & Red-Line Authority Scrutinize P&IDs, control narratives, cause & effect matrices, I/O lists, and HMI screen layouts for functional accuracy and alarm rationalization. Audit and edit Div. 25 specifications, FRS, DDS, HDS, and network architecture diagrams (ring, star, PRP/HSR redundancy). Verify tagging conventions, data mapping to OSI PI historian, and 21 CFR Part 11 audit trail implementation.
  • Field Verification & Walkdowns Conduct point-to-point verification of field instruments, PLC I/O wiring, and fiber optic terminations using loop drawings and termination diagrams. Confirm cabinet layouts respect IP66/NEMA 4X ratings, purge systems (Type Z), and segregation of IS/non-IS circuits. Validate installation of managed switches, firewalls, and VLAN segmentation per IEC 62443-3-3. Photograph and tag deviations (cable bend radius, labeling, grounding) in Procore/BIM 360.
  • Change Control & Risk Mitigation Lead automation FAT/SAT; enforce code review of ladder logic, structured text, and function blocks. Evaluate software change requests for impact on validated state and regression testing scope. Maintain live as-built loop drawings and PLC/DCS tag databases.
  • Commissioning & Turnover Support Witness integrated system testing (water runs, media/ buffer simulations) and sequence of operations. Sign off on IQ/OQ protocols for DCS recipe objects, phase logic, and electronic batch records. Package native source code, VM snapshots, and backup scripts for handover.
  • Bachelor's degree in Automation/Controls Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 10+ years implementing DeltaV, Rockwell PlantPAx, or Siemens PCS7 in GMP environments.
  • S88 batch modeling, ISA-18.2 alarm management, and GAMP 5 software categorization expertise.
  • Cybersecurity certification (GISCP, ISA/IEC 62443) preferred.
