About The Position

The Outside Sales Engineer will promote Superior Central Boiler as the #1 choice for comprehensive steam solutions, including boiler parts and equipment sales, service, and licensed operations. This role involves meeting or exceeding budgeted Sales Team goals, identifying and closing new business opportunities in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The engineer will also recommend strategies to increase sales, introduce new products and services, commit to ongoing technical training, and attend industry trade shows. After initial training, the position will operate as a combination of remote work, local travel, and routine visits to the Wall, NJ office.

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ industry experience (e.g. Boiler, HVAC or Mechanical Services)
  • Successful track record of meeting / exceeding expectations in a technical, consultative, long-term sales cycle environment.
  • Technically competent, self-motivated, driven and determined
  • Poised, presentable, and confident in front of customers
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills
  • Organized in time management skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage priorities effectively and prioritize tasks based on importance
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, co-workers, and stakeholders
  • A background in the boiler, HVAC or Mechanical services sales, service and/or operations.
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and professionalism.
  • A valid state driver's license and safe driving record required
  • Strategic planning, organization, communication, presentation, and connectivity skills
  • Keen understanding of how to position an overall value proposition, pricing and the associated impact on gross margin, and profit.
  • Able to travel to customers throughout New Jersey.
  • Outstanding performance-based acumen, as well as proven leadership and relationship building skills

Nice To Haves

  • 5-10 years of experience as a Sales or Application Engineer in the boiler or similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of boiler products, processes, services, and decision-makers preferred

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed budgeted Sales Team goals and objectives
  • Identify, develop, track (Salesforce.com) and close new business opportunities in existing territory of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
  • Create and maintain a strong rapport with customers and provide superior customer service.
  • Recommend strategies to increase sales for existing customers and markets
  • Introducing specialty services and new product offerings to customers
  • Commit to ongoing technical training.
  • Attend industry trade shows to identify potential sales leads and make meaningful contact.
  • Follow industry trends to identify new opportunities for potential sales
  • Recommend marketing strategies to target a specific region or demographic
