About The Position

Promotes The Senior Alliance in the community through education about resources and programs available to older adults, adults living with disabilities, and caregivers. Works on outreach activities to support successful execution of The Senior Alliance outreach strategy. Implement MI Options outreach plan to increase public awareness and utilization of MI Options program, including Medicare Counseling and Person-Centered Options Counseling services. Foster relationships with community partners and leaders. Drafts communications and implements outreach strategies. Works collaboratively with agency staff and external partners on various outreach and strategic assignments. The Senior Alliance is a non-profit 501c(3) where philanthropy activity on behalf of the agency is a requirement of all employees. Performs job functions with ethics, honesty, and integrity.

Requirements

  • Has excellent interpersonal and group process skills.
  • Is accurate, conscientious, and flexible with attention to detail.
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Is comfortable with public speaking in small and large group settings.
  • Can implement outreach activities, recommend new approaches to challenges, and create compelling reports.
  • Has experience creating visual presentations in PowerPoint or similar programs.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively in both internal and external team environments.
  • Can pivot and respond quickly to issues that require timely action.
  • Regular travel as needed within southeast Michigan.
  • Is familiar with computer hardware and Microsoft applications.
  • Accepts direction, is well organized, and can meet deadlines.
  • Successful completion of the Initial Training for new SHIP/MIPPA Team Members.
  • Successful completion of the Person-Centered Options Counselor training.

  • Performs job functions with ethics, honesty, and integrity.
  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift boxes of paperwork up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to drive throughout Wayne County and occasionally outside Wayne County.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the aging network, community-based organizations and resources for older adult issues is desirable.
  • Some experience with data management and computer applications is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the outreach and external relations activities of the agency, as directed by Chief Community Impact Officer, or designees.
  • Foster relationships and conduct outreach with community leadership to achieve the agency’s outreach and strategic goals.
  • Conduct outreach to raise awareness about The Senior Alliance programs and services, as well as community partner programs.
  • Conduct outreach to raise awareness about the MI Options program and associated programs.
  • Coordinate outreach events across The Senior Alliance and maintain internal and external outreach event calendars.
  • Produce data, charts, reports, summaries, analysis, and presentations including both community and team training.
  • Maintain assigned databases, schedule and attend meetings and make presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Monitor and maintain outreach materials, including ordering items with direction from manager.
  • Coordinate outreach, marketing, and advertising requests incoming to and outgoing from The Senior Alliance to ensure branding and program promotion is maintained.
  • Coordinate social media and website updates in collaboration with The Senior Alliance marketing firm to ensure timely updates and relevant online presence are maintained.
  • Review outreach and marketing materials to ensure accuracy and branding guidelines are maintained.
  • Coordinate internal outreach team to create a collaborative cross-agency outreach strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with agency employees and external stakeholders on strategic assignments.
  • Represent the agency in a professional manner and effectively communicate on behalf of the agency.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Community Impact Officer or his/her designee.
