About The Position

The Outreach Program Coordinator organizes the development and delivery of outreach programs offered through the Center for Continuing Education, including responsibility for program staffing and operational oversight. This role provides on-site and overnight support for a four-week (non-consecutive) summer program. The position also assists with policy development and organizes resources to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. The Outreach Program Coordinator strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.

  • Skilled in utilizing Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to travel throughout Wisconsin and adjacent states.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and work in outdoor environments, including walking or standing for extended periods on varying terrain (e.g., unpaved or uneven surfaces).
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings or weekends, with overnight travel as needed.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle for the purpose of conducting university business and meet the criteria for operation of state-owned-vehicles – Policy 615
  • Minimum education: Associate’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Two or more years of experience in a professional setting with:
  • Demonstrated experience delivering exceptional, personalized guest or participant experiences or related experiences in public‑facing, educational, outreach, or service‑oriented roles.
  • Experience in event management, outdoor education, delivering learning initiatives, and/or educational curriculum and program development or related experiences.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Candidates must be independently, legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain their work authorization without the support or help of UW-Superior throughout employment.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the implementation of program policies and procedures
  • Schedules day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
  • Identifies opportunities for program improvement or new outreach program development
  • Schedules and secures logistics and resources in support of an outreach program
  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships to promote the outreach program
  • Provide professional support to programs through collaborative planning, program development, implementation, marketing support and evaluation support, which may include: Performing analysis of programs, market research, and needs assessments to make recommendations for new program development and/or the sunsetting of programs and assist in the implementation of recommendations to promote sustainable relationships between the university and community.
  • Facilitating the development and implementation of educational programming in coordination with the Associate Director/Director and in partnership with the appropriate subject matter experts, organizations, community groups, and/or academic departments or programs.
  • Supporting marketing of programs in coordination with Associate Director/Director and Marketing Specialist.
  • Evaluating impact of programs offered to practice continuous quality improvement utilizing approved assessment methods.
  • Responsible for data management, including maintaining participant information.
  • Assist as needed with identifying and recruiting presenters and assessing program sites.
  • Maintain communication with presenters and coordinating program site needs.
  • Organize resources to promote stable and productive relationships within the university for programming.
  • Perform designated program management functions, which may include securing funding, program resources, and program sites as well as scheduling presenters and day-to-day program activities.
  • Strive to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.
  • Assist with establishing and implementing short-and long-range programmatic goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Analyze and prepare final reports of program activities as requested.
  • Assist in determining program budgets and support the management of fiscally sound programs.
  • Serve as primary on-site coordinator during a four-week (non-consecutive) summer program, which includes overnight presence and availability to address participant needs and operational issues outside standard business hours.
  • Coordinate with professional organizations as needed to meet best practice standards.
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective participants and refer as needed.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with campus and community partners.
  • When requested, represent the Center for Continuing Education at various community and/or business meetings.
  • Develop and maintain a strong and diverse network of community members from all sectors.
  • Conduct outreach and actively engages in relationship building with a variety of regional constituents – including but not limited to academic departments, community groups, faith-based organizations, businesses, arts organizations.
  • Collaborate with department staff to reinforce a positive and productive team environment.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and annual report generation for programs.
  • Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
