About The Position

United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County unites the community to identify and solve our most critical issues. We are dedicated to improving people's lives and creating community-level change. Our work includes leading cross-sector collaborations, advocating for public policy changes and investing in programs that prevent problems from happening in the first place for those in need. Improving quality of life and advancing the greater good involves focusing in four impact areas: preparing children for kindergarten; empowering students to graduate and reach their full potential; helping individuals and families become self-sufficient; providing a safety net of services for those in crisis. JOB SUMMARY The UWSA Outreach Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing military-focused outreach strategies that support recruitment, engagement, and retention of military-connected families. This position supports 2-1-1, MISSION UNITED, Strong Families Strong Forces (SFSF), and Military Dual Generation (Mil2Gen) programs by providing information and referral services, coordinating Parent Advisory Council (PAC) activities, and collaborating with staff and community partners to ensure families have access to resources that strengthen protective factors and support grant outcomes. The ideal candidate for this role is self-directed, holds a current DoD ID card and has lived experience as part of a military family, providing valuable insight into the unique strengths and challenges faced by military-connected households. They possess strong relationship-building and communication skills, particularly in engaging with military leadership and community partners. The candidate must be adaptable and willing to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, to accommodate family schedules or to participate in occasional outreach events that support program visibility and engagement. UWSA successfully manages multiple state grants, which provides program funding including pay and benefits for team members involved in servicing those grants. This position is grant funded, thus continued employment is contingent upon awarded grant funding. UWSA applies for Grants that align with the community impact work it facilitates and provides. Grants are awarded for a fixed duration (typically 3 to 5 years) but are generally renewable.
