About The Position

Mass Audubon is seeking an Outreach Coordinator for the Connecticut River Watershed Partnership (CRWP). This position will assist the Director of the CRWP in building the capacity of this long-standing regional conservation partnership comprised of 75 non-profit organizations and state and federal agencies, formerly the Friends of Conte, to accomplish critical conservation goals across the four state Connecticut River Watershed. Mass Audubon currently serves as the fiscal agent and host of the CRWP, and this position will work primarily with the organizations, agencies and local communities on conservation and restoration initiatives in the watershed. The Outreach Coordinator will serve as a link between partners working in the region, identifying areas for collaboration, knowledge and capacity sharing, as well as current challenges to cross-state landscape scale partnership. The Outreach Coordinator will assist in the implementation of CRWP’s strategic priorities, as recently identified by the group’s Executive and Steering Committees, coordinating partner workplan creation and execution. They will advance and diversify the CRWP’s communication, advocacy, and outreach efforts, building on the strengths of this network of public and private partners. This is a one-year, term limited position with the possibility of extension depending on funding availability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in conservation project management, non-profit management, coalition or partnership building, or similar field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Collaborative with a demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively with multiple and diverse partners, including government agencies, local communities, landowners, businesses, foundations, tribal organizations, and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to produce tangible results, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and work towards resolution of issues leading to tangible results
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail while being outcome driven
  • A commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice, especially as it pertains to conservation
  • Experience with outreach and communications via written, spoken, and graphical means
  • Ability to create and deliver public presentations, write for a variety of audiences including media and grant proposals, and speak clearly and persuasively
  • Experience with common software applications, such as suite of Microsoft Office, web browsers, etc.
  • Aptitude with social media platforms
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Multilingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated
  • Familiarity with New England landscape and conservation community
  • Experience with ArcGIS software
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in conservation, restoration, stewardship, and environmental justice

Responsibilities

  • Network Coordination
  • Assist in the preparation and facilitation of the quarterly meetings of the Steering Committee and All Partner meetings
  • Help with the formation and ongoing coordination needs of CRWP’s active Committees and Working Groups
  • Actively recruit new and diverse partners to the CRWP; identify key sectors and groups that are missing and coordinate with the Executive and Steering Committees on recruitment efforts
  • With the Steering Committee and Director, address the capacity needs of CRWP’s network of partners; specifically working with the Director to support the participation of smaller community-based groups in the CRWP and assisting with grant-writing needs of partner
  • Help plan and host CRWP’s Annual Gathering
  • Draft and circulate quarterly CRWP newsletters; solicit relevant content and draft newsworthy updates for partners
  • Maintain and manage CRWP’s social media channels, updating with relevant newsworthy content as needed
  • External Communications
  • Assist with efforts to advance the Connecticut River Watershed Partnership Act (S.2660): federal legislation to enhance annual funding and agency collaboration for CRWP conservation priorities in the Connecticut River watershed
  • Co-create CRWP’s Look Book: an annual publication showcasing project opportunities that utilize federal funding in the Watershed through project identification and collation
  • Co-plan and host multi-state grant workshops/webinars with key agency grant managers to encourage new applicants and introduce partners to additional funding sources
  • Assist in organizing and conducting DC Hill visits
