POSITION OVERVIEW: Outpatient Counselors provide high-quality clinical treatment services tailored to individual needs, incorporating the latest research and evidence-based practices, while assisting clients in successfully completing their treatment. Outpatient Counselors maintain a minimum of 22 billable services per week as part of the expected clinical hours and deliver treatment in accordance with ethical standards and Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs). Outpatient Counselors also foster a therapeutic environment where staff collaboratively determine the most effective clinical approach and act as a representative of the Rimrock Trails mission both on and off the work site.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Clinical Behavioral Health
  • Eligible for Oregon Registered Associate status

  • Licensure preferred (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PsyD, PhD)
  • CADC I certification or higher (CADC2 preferred) or be eligible to obtain within 2 years of hire

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and models a helping relationship characterized by warmth, respect, authenticity, concreteness, and empathy.
  • Demonstrates understanding of diagnostic placement criteria and treatment modalities for substance use and mental health disorders.
  • Utilizes a variety of models for the treatment of individuals in a culturally competent way.
  • Interventions are developed collaboratively with the client.
  • Provides individual, group, and family therapy meeting documentation standards and timeframes. Explores need for family therapy for each episode of care, unless otherwise indicated.
  • Utilizes a trauma-informed, holistic approach to clients and families.
  • Utilizes collaborative documentation.
  • Actively engages as a part of the therapeutic process to achieve treatment goals.
  • Utilizes individualized interventions to address the needs of clients, or groups, and families.
  • Demonstrates appropriate physical and emotional boundaries.
  • Adheres to professional code of ethics.
  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with Federal and State laws, agency policies and procedures, as well as all HIPPA regulations.
  • Attends all required training and acquires education hours needed to uphold certification/licensure.
  • Meets regularly with the Clinical Supervisor per current OARs.
  • Obtainment of CADC certification within no more than two years of hire.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication, organization, and ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Completion of ICOD training within 1 year of hire.
  • Value the importance of family participation in treatment.
  • Maintain weekly contact with the family (in person, via phone, or video conference) to provide an update on client progress and engage the family in therapy when indicated.
  • Utilize collaborative documentation in order to increase client engagement, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Produce clinical documentation within designated time frames.
  • Complete encounters report for each pay period and turn into OP Director by end of business on last scheduled day.
  • Perform filing, copying, and electronic filing tasks, as needed.
  • Leverage referrals to higher levels of care and other community resources when necessary.
  • Establish a continuum of care with the family/natural supports, Recovery Mentor, mental health counselor, community justice officer, and other identified supports.
  • Understand the variety of insurance/resources that are available and support clients in accessing benefits.
  • Develop knowledge of housing and basic needs resources.
  • Display sound judgment and reasoning.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain professional standard of conduct.
  • Follow through on commitments/responsibilities.
  • Works effectively on an independent basis.
  • Notify Supervisor of issues in a timely manner.
