About The Position

We are supporting a fully remote role for an OSP Permitting Coordinator responsible for managing permits for underground fiber construction supporting data center connectivity in the Dayton, Ohio market. Candidates may live anywhere in the U.S., but must have direct experience pulling permits for underground OSP fiber projects with Dayton-area municipalities and utilities. Candidates outside the Dayton area may be considered only if they have successfully completed permitting work in these specific jurisdictions. This requirement is strict. Experience in other markets is not accepted. This role focuses exclusively on underground permitting coordination.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience submitting and managing permits for underground OSP fiber projects
  • Must have permitting experience with Dayton-area agencies, including: City of Dayton Montgomery County Greene County Beavercreek Kettering Huber Heights Ohio DOT District 7/8
  • Understanding of underground fiber construction (trenching, HDD, conduit installation, restoration rules)
  • Ability to interpret OSP drawings, utility maps, and traffic control plans
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple permitting workflows across multiple agencies
  • Ideally resides in Ohio, but may be remote if they have prior verifiable Dayton permitting experience

Nice To Haves

  • Permitting coordination for fiber builders, carriers, or engineering firms
  • Experience with underground fiber routes serving enterprise or data centers
  • Familiarity with AES Ohio and local public works offices
  • Understanding of HDD approvals, utility conflicts, microtrenching requirements
  • Experience with permitting portals and project tracking systems

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, submit, and track permit applications for underground fiber construction
  • Coordinate with city, county, and state agencies regarding trenching, boring, conduit placement, and restoration standards
  • Review design packages for permitting completeness and accuracy
  • Ensure all required drawings, TCPs, and documentation meet local standards
  • Maintain direct communication with Dayton-area AHJs throughout the approval cycle
  • Flag potential delays or documentation gaps before submission
  • Manage timelines, re-submittals, approvals, and follow-ups
  • Maintain comprehensive permitting logs and compliance records
  • Serve as the permitting subject-matter expert for the Dayton region
