Summary Works with plastic, metal, plaster, and leather to fabricate orthotic devices according to measurements and prescription requirements; repairs/modifies devices under supervision of a certified orthotist.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Lift over 50 lbs.
- Push/pull up to 140 lbs.
- Carry 80 lbs. short distances.
- Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s Degree
- Orthotic or Prosthetic Technician course completed at an accredited school.
Responsibilities
- Fabricates orthotic devices by bending, forming, and shaping materials to prescribed specifications.
- Interprets specifications to determine the type of device to be fabricated and the materials and tools that will be required.
- Repairs, rebuilds, and modifies orthotic appliances.
- Interacts with patients under the supervision of a certified orthotist to make adjustments to promote proper fit, function, and comfort of devices.
- Maintains fabrication supplies inventory as delegated by management.
- Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of workspaces and common areas.
- Participates in preventative maintenance of equipment as assigned.
- Adheres to policies and procedures regarding human resources, physical environment, business and financial practices, reimbursement requirements, and organizational management.
