Summary Works with plastic, metal, plaster, and leather to fabricate orthotic devices according to measurements and prescription requirements; repairs/modifies devices under supervision of a certified orthotist.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Lift over 50 lbs.
  • Push/pull up to 140 lbs.
  • Carry 80 lbs. short distances.
  • Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Orthotic or Prosthetic Technician course completed at an accredited school.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricates orthotic devices by bending, forming, and shaping materials to prescribed specifications.
  • Interprets specifications to determine the type of device to be fabricated and the materials and tools that will be required.
  • Repairs, rebuilds, and modifies orthotic appliances.
  • Interacts with patients under the supervision of a certified orthotist to make adjustments to promote proper fit, function, and comfort of devices.
  • Maintains fabrication supplies inventory as delegated by management.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of workspaces and common areas.
  • Participates in preventative maintenance of equipment as assigned.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures regarding human resources, physical environment, business and financial practices, reimbursement requirements, and organizational management.
