About The Position

Join a high-volume Orthopedic Med-Surg team caring for post-op joints and spine plus complex med-surg comorbidities. Unit metrics: 6:1 ratio with strong preceptor support and clear pathways to grow ortho competencies (TKA/THA, spine, fractures, multi-trauma overflow). Responsibilities Deliver targeted post-op ortho care: neurovascular checks, immobilization/traction, drains, wound vacs, and DVT prophylaxis. Manage multimodal pain control (PCA/epidural/oral), early mobility with PT/OT, and fall-prevention bundles. Continuous telemetry as assigned ; recognize/escalate rhythm or status changes promptly. Coordinate diagnostics/consults; drive throughput, discharge readiness, and readmission reduction . Provide clear patient/family education (hip/knee/spine precautions, anticoagulation safety, equipment needs, home services). Document precisely; uphold core measures, infection prevention, and safe handoffs (SBAR).

Requirements

  • Active Florida RN (or compact; obtain active FL within 60 days if compact).
  • 1+ year RN experience ( acute care required ).
  • Orthopedic experience required.
  • BLS (AHA or ARC) at start; ACLS within 6 months .
  • ASN/ADN or Nursing Diploma (BSN preferred).
  • Ability to meet role’s physical demands (frequent standing/bending; safe handling up to ~50 lbs).
  • Onsite interview is mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • LTACH, Home Health, or Rehab backgrounds with strong ortho/med-surg readiness and acute transition skills.
