About The Position

The Program Manager for the Organizing Strategy & Innovations (OSI) program is a tactical, execution-focused role. Working closely with the OSI Program Director, the Manager translates high-level strategies into structured, actionable, and measurable deliverables. This position is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of core projects—such as resourced cohorts and capacity-building initiatives—ensuring they are delivered on schedule and meet high-quality standards. The Program Manager handles tactical communications, coordinates program logistics, and supports the implementation of MIC’s transformative organizing and experimentation agenda. In the MIC’s start-up phase, the OSI Program Manager will inform and support implementation of program strategy through:

Requirements

  • At least 5–7 years of experience in program management, development or administration, ideally within a social movement or community organizing coalition context.
  • Strong commitment to MIC’s mission of racial justice and transformative structural change in California.
  • High-level of cultural awareness and experience building trusted relationships and working with different demographic groups and diverse regions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate raw data into actionable lessons using an array of technical tools.
  • A flexible approach to working in a dynamic startup environment, with the ability to adapt project plans based on feedback.
  • Strong familiarity with the grassroots organizations and political landscape of California.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the execution of core OSI initiatives, including cohorts focused on upsurge absorption, intergenerational leadership, and organizer pipeline infrastructure.
  • Coordinate major project operations, including relationship management with field partners, event logistics, and participant engagement tracking for OSI programs.
  • Support the development of detailed project scopes and implementation plans, tracking goals and learning milestones to ensure timely completion.
  • Make tactical adjustments to resolve immediate implementation challenges and escalate critical programmatic roadblocks to the Program Director.
  • Facilitate regular, program-specific information sharing within the MIC network and with anchor field partners and practitioners.
  • Create agendas and facilitate committee meetings as needed to ensure discussions result in clear, actionable next steps.
  • Support the management of cross-racial, intergenerational spaces for collaborative learning and strategic alignment.
  • Support documentation to share "movement lessons" learned from experiments in building OSI-related movement infrastructure.
  • Implement data tracking and other research tasks to support action research for testing OSI models in collaboration with the MS&I and Learning & Impact teams.
  • Assist in the codification of breakthrough strategies and findings into accessible toolkits and learning models for the field.
  • Support assessments of current trends in Transformative Organizing, including models and frameworks.
  • Monitor project-specific expenditures to assist the Program Director in tracking overall resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with MIC operations teams to implement program functions using internal systems and infrastructure (e.g., Salesforce, Asana, etc.)
