Organizational Development & Learning Director

About The Position

onX is seeking an Organizational Development & Learning Director to play a critical role in how our organization grows, adapts, and performs. As onX continues to scale, this role will shape how we build leadership capability, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and prepare our teams for the future of work. You’ll lead the evolution of Learning & Development into a cohesive, scalable system that connects learning, organizational development, and business performance. This role is both strategic and hands-on. You will design systems and personally drive high-impact work that builds capability across the organization. This includes leading organizational development efforts such as diagnosing organizational needs, guiding cultural and behavior shifts, and supporting teams through change. You’ll integrate learning directly into key business initiatives, transformations, and scaling efforts - so development happens through the work, rather than separate to it. A key focus of this role is helping the organization adapt to emerging ways of working, including AI-enabled workflows, distributed collaboration, and modern, embedded approaches to capability building that prioritize learning in the flow of work over traditional programs. You’ll partner with leaders and teams to build the mindsets, skills, and behaviors needed to operate effectively in an increasingly AI-enabled environment. You’ll work closely with executive leaders, People Business Partners, Recruiting, People Operations, and functional teams to ensure alignment across the broader People and Culture system - shaping outcomes without centralizing ownership. This role will report to the VP, People & Culture.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience across Learning & Development, Organizational Development, and/or Talent Management, with increasing scope and ownership.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience building and scaling capability systems (not just programs) that improve leadership effectiveness and organizational performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a strategic partner to senior leaders, influencing decisions and shaping organizational direction.
  • Track record of owning strategy and executing against it, particularly in resource-constrained or high-growth environments.
  • Curiosity and hands-on experimentation with AI and emerging technologies, and the ability to translate them into practical applications for teams.
  • Experience leading or contributing to organizational development efforts, such as organizational diagnostics, change management, and capability modeling.
  • Experience embedding learning and development into business initiatives, transformations, or scaling efforts, rather than operating as a standalone function.
  • Strong systems thinking, with the ability to connect learning, talent, culture, and business outcomes.
  • Experience designing and scaling:
  • Leadership and manager development
  • Organizational effectiveness or change initiatives
  • Talent systems (e.g., performance management, career growth, succession planning)
  • Experience working in and supporting distributed or remote-first organizations.
  • A data-driven mindset, with the ability to measure impact and iterate based on outcomes.
  • Ability to operate as both a strategic leader and hands-on builder, comfortable balancing long-term vision with day-to-day execution.
  • A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values.
  • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.
  • Ability to travel quarterly or monthly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location, such as a Basecamp.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience introducing or scaling AI-enabled workflows within teams or organizations
