About The Position

At the University of Pikeville and Tanner College of Dental Medicine (TCDM), innovation and excellence drive our approach to preparing the next generation of health professionals. The University of Pikeville invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Oral Medicine for the Tanner College of Dental Medicine. This critical faculty member is envisioned to provide exceptional and innovative teaching, patient-centered interprofessional care, and scholarly activities.

Requirements

  • DMD or DDS degree from a CODA-accredited institution or equivalent.
  • Possess or be eligible to obtain a license to practice dentistry in Kentucky or faculty limited licensure.
  • Graduate of a CODA-accredited Oral Medicine residency program is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supervising predoctoral dental education students at CODA-accredited institutions is preferred.
  • Board-certified in Oral Medicine or board-eligible is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver integrative, case-based instruction to predoctoral dental students, other health profession education students, and additional learners as assigned.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in oral pathology and other disciplines to ensure high-quality, clinically relevant teaching.
  • Provide consultation services within the student clinic in collaboration with Oral Pathology faculty.
  • Develop and implement protocols aligned with American Dental Association recommendations for the care of medically complex patients and offer direct consultations for these patients within the student clinic.
  • Provide direct patient care across the full scope of oral medicine practice.
  • Collaborate with other divisions in the Departments of Oral Health Science and Oral Health Practice to support teaching, clinical, and scholarly activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from other health profession education programs at the University of Pikeville to provide interdisciplinary patient care and strengthen interprofessional education.
  • Contribute to the mission of the Tanner College of Dental Medicine by engaging in service, scholarly activity, and professional expertise.
  • Participate in institutional initiatives, academic service, and scholarly contributions that advance the practice of oral medicine and dental education.
