About The Position

Mountain View Pain Center Ambulatory Surgical Center is committed to providing exceptional patient care in a safe and professional environment. We are currently seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical team. Position Summary The Operating Room RN is responsible for assisting in the organization and daily functions of the operating room in compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and facility standards. This role oversees patient care activities in the OR, ensuring a high standard of safety for both patients and staff, while serving as a role model and mentor to other nurses and surgical technicians.

Requirements

  • Current Colorado RN license.
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred.
  • Two (2) years of operating room experience preferred.
  • IV skills preferred.
  • Proof of identity and authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to build positive professional relationships with patients, families, and physicians.
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of perioperative nursing theory and best practices.
  • Ability to circulate all types of cases preferred.
  • Demonstrates initiative in professional development and continuing education.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preoperative patient assessments, including reviewing surgeon preference cards and equipment/supply needs.
  • Prepare operating rooms, ensuring all equipment and supplies are available, safe, and in working order.
  • Provide safe and effective medication administration.
  • Position patients appropriately for surgical intervention using positioning aids as needed.
  • Perform surgical preps per standard of care and surgeon preference.
  • Handle and document specimens according to policy.
  • Conduct sponge, sharps, and instrument counts per protocol; initiate corrective action when needed.
  • Maintain aseptic technique, proper attire, and traffic patterns in restricted areas.
  • Ensure surgical suites remain clean, stocked, and organized.
  • Troubleshoot and manage surgical equipment, reporting malfunctions appropriately.
  • Assist in orientation and training of new staff members.
  • Provide perioperative education to patients and their families.
  • Accurately document patient care in medical records.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement processes.
