About The Position

This is work providing social services to assist in rehabilitation of juvenile law offenders in custody or on probation or parole. Incumbents make recommendations for actions involving formulation of rehabilitation plan and treatment of offender, including conditional release and education and employment stipulations. This position will act as an operations resource and report to the program area supervisor. This is work conducting evaluations and work simplifications for the Circuits, providing technical assistance and assisting programs in operations more efficiently and effectively.

Requirements

  • Knowledge in department administrative rule, policies and procedures related to operations
  • Knowledge in risk factors for delinquency, assessment and evidence-based treatment and practices
  • Knowledge in Implementation and Sustainability Planning Processes
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of adult learning
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to provide clear and precise directions
  • Ability to gather and organize data into a logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials
  • Ability to work independently and to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to assess training needs
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to use desktop computers, including the Microsoft (MS) operating system, and the MS office software suite
  • Ability to use Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS)
  • Ability to travel throughout the state on short notice as needs arrive
  • Skill in building interpersonal relationships through training, coaching and mentoring others
  • A Valid Driver's License is Required
  • A High School Diploma or it's equivalent is Required
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Software including, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and the principles and techniques of effective communication
  • Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports
  • Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques
  • Ability to work independently, plan, organize and coordinate work assignments and communicate effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Be at least 19 years of age
  • Not have been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement or have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States
  • Abide by all provisions of s. 985.644 (1), regarding fingerprinting and background investigations and other screening requirements for personnel
  • Execute and submit to the department an affidavit-of-application form, adopted by the department, attesting to his or her compliance with sub paragraphs 1-4
  • Successful candidate must be certified in accordance with State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice direct care training policy or obtain such certification within 180 days of employment
  • Attend and successfully complete a mandatory residential training academy located in Quincy Florida
  • Maintain certification
  • Take and pass Ergometric's IMPACT Assessment and Training Test (for candidates not currently in the state system as a direct care worker for DJJ)

Responsibilities

  • Act as an operations resource
  • Conduct evaluations and work simplifications for the Circuits
  • Provide technical assistance and assist programs in operations more efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure successful functioning of systems or processes
  • Coordinate meetings and workshops
  • Review documents, processes, services, and forms to ensure accuracy and identify problems
  • Prepare manuals and train employees in use of new forms, processes and equipment
  • Communicate with individuals to resolve problems
  • Serve as the North Region Electronic Monitoring (EM) liaison
  • Conduct bi-weekly EM audits in coordination with Probation Headquarters staff
  • Be the subject matter expert and provide training and technical assistance to the circuits regarding EM
  • Monitor equipment needs
  • Participate in bi-weekly calls with circuit liaisons
  • Complete the monthly EM reconciliation report for contract monitoring
  • Attend, participate in Regional and Circuit meetings to share information
  • Provide feedback to the Regional director on Circuit EM needs
  • Perform other duties as needed
