About The Position

The Produce Ops Specialist is responsible for providing support to ensure that all products and produce departments are up to The United Family standards. His/her number one priority is providing Ultimate Service through team member training of product knowledge and sales techniques, merchandising at store level, and overall operations of the Produce department. He/She will be responsible for implementation of and continued execution of department sales, merchandising, and various other initiatives. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years produce management experience
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays – available to travel including overnight stays is required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record
  • Ability to build and manage relationships throughout the store and community
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Ability to gain trust, respect and buy-in from all levels of the organization
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, reach and lift items weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to use a forklift and pallet jack
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and effectively manage time
  • Ability to function as a team member and get along with others
  • Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits and attitude

Responsibilities

  • Through effective communication and training, guides and directs the Produce team to achieve financial goals and objectives established by the company
  • Promote cleanliness, sales, customer service and promotions in the department
  • Teach departmental merchandising to enhance profitability
  • Monitor the financial status of the department and make necessary changes, including management, to make sure goals are met
  • Knowledge and adherence of company policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate good delegation and follow through skills
  • Lead by example to achieve proper levels of service
  • Exercise discretion in handling confidential information
  • Responsible for maintaining effective and professional relationships with current and future business partners
  • Educates guests and team members about products
  • Responsible for the opening of new and remodeled stores
  • Monitor competitors activities
  • Demonstrate actions and results biased toward achieving the company’s vision, values and strategic goals
  • Assist in identifying Team Members with promotion potential
  • Foster an empowered learning and high performance environment
  • Performs all other duties as required
