About The Position

Responsible for managing and coordinating events, ensuring they are successful and executed to the highest standards. This includes planning logistics, handling budgets, negotiating with vendors, managing timelines, and overseeing on-site operations. This position will be responsible for the oversight and management of contracts, and audio-visual (AV) agreements. Responsible for the promotion and advancement of the Department’s special projects and event planning and will serve as the lead facilitator for statewide conferences and event. Performs special projects and event planning and serves as liaison for anticipated activities and conferences for the Office of Prevention Services. Communicates effectively with customers external to the Department while maintaining a positive and collaborative working relationship. Responsible for monitoring activities, events and conference progress, track the project’s progress, address challenges, and adjust plans as necessary to achieve goals. Provide regular updates to management on project status, challenges, and achievements. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to collect evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.
  • Ability to conduct fact-finding research.
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to operational and management analysis activities.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience of project management and/or event planning experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Development of contractual specifications in conformance with State and Federal laws and agency policies.
  • Ability to create, understand, and implement a budget.
