About The Position

As our Operator in Training , you will take part in a 12‑month program that prepares you to become a MISO System Operator supporting grid reliability across a 15‑state region. You will build core knowledge of the energy industry and power system through a structured curriculum and development activities. You will then apply and reinforce these concepts through practical learning experiences that ready you for work in the control room. You will build meaningful connections with experienced control room operators and industry professionals who will share their knowledge as you progress through the program. You’ll work within a collaborative team focused on common goals and shared results. You will successfully complete the required certifications and training to become a desk-qualified control room operator and work. We are looking for talented individuals who have the following qualifications or abilities: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Self-motivated to excel in the requirements for following a structured curriculum while learning a new industry and profession Ability to adjust to various or changing circumstances and demonstrate flexibility to carry out work objectives Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining attention to detail Strong ability to define problems, collect & analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to communicate and collaborate in a dynamic office environment Aptitude and interest to learn and apply a deep understanding of bulk electric system operations, market operations, and initiatives related to ongoing professional development Able and willing to work a 12-hour day/night rotating shift schedule Strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight, hearing, dexterity, and color perception Able and willing to complete a 12-month training program and remain employed with MISO for an additional 24 months (36 months combined total commitment) Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge. The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $67,000.00 - $86,000.00 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience. Position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.
