Operators will observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards. They will adjust machine components and machine tension and pressure according to the size or processing angle of the product. Responsibilities include removing finished packaged items from the machine, separating rejected items, and stopping or resetting machines when malfunctions occur. Operators must clear machine jams and report malfunctions to a supervisor. The role involves working effectively and efficiently with teammates to package products, monitoring packaging machines to identify and correct malfunctions, and regulating machine flow, speed, or temperature. The operator is also responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area, performing metal detector verification, completing necessary paperwork (downtime, machine log, batch orders), assisting with team directing during changeovers and cleaning, and reporting safety matters. All job functions must adhere to General Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), and the operator should understand and use production standards and specifications. Accurate documentation, collaboration with maintenance for troubleshooting, verifying product quality, and performing minor machine adjustments or repairs are also key aspects of the role.
