Operator, Equipment - Material Handling
About The Position
This position is for an Equipment Operator specializing in Material Handling. The role primarily involves operating a Railcar mover to sort cars for unloading activities, visually inspecting rail cars, performing air brake inspections, connecting steam lines, and monitoring temperatures. The operator will also be responsible for unloading feedstock from rail cars using pumps and control systems. Cross-training in various facility functions and active participation in the Savage safety program are expected. Key requirements include performing basic maintenance tasks, possessing basic computer skills, and successfully completing all job-related training such as OSHA, HazMat, and FRA courses. Candidates must be willing to wear required PPE, pass drug/alcohol and criminal background checks, and hold a valid driver's license. The ability to read, write, understand, and follow instructions in English is essential. The role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, at heights up to 30 feet, and requires the ability to lift 50lbs independently. Experience in the rail industry or industrial environments is considered a plus.
Requirements
- Perform basic maintenance tasks

- Attend and pass all training associated with job related coursework. This includes but is not limited to: OSHA, HazMat and FRA related courses

- Clear drug / alcohol test / criminal background check
- Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves
- Rail Industry and/or rail unloading/loading experience is a plus
- Work experience in an industrial environment
Responsibilities
