We're looking for a dynamic Operations Supervisor that has a special blend of personality, work ethic, customer service, and maintenance management that takes pride in their employees and their community. Block by Block is seeking to hire an Operations Supervisor to provide oversight of our Ambassador Team. Our Ambassador programs make communities and Downtown Business Improvement Districts much friendlier, cleaner, and safer. This in turn increases the number of visitors, businesses and residents, which ultimately increases revenue and livability. The Operation Supervisor position is the "Lead Ambassador" in charge of all aspects of our program including personnel management, equipment management and resource management, along with deployments of the team. This role works directly with our clients to not only deliver daily Ambassador services throughout the districts but also deliver continual program improvements, as well. We're looking for someone with strong leadership and customer service skills, executive level budgeting skills and most of all, a great work ethic. This leader will wear many different hats and have to be able to work quickly to solve problems. We need an independent thinker and someone that can maintain a great culture for our Ambassadors, as well as the client we serve.

Requirements

  • You have solid work history and longevity of at least 5 years with previous employers
  • You have supervised teams in the past.
  • You enjoy working outside in all weather. Yes, all weather.
  • You are a problem solver. Remember, we need innovators.
  • You know what Quality Assurance means...This means exceeding client expectations, and exceeding the Ambassadors expectations
  • You have "a little dirt never hurt anybody" mindset. (You're going to get dirty a lot)
  • You know how to manage people and work in a team setting. (Team building and creating a culture is very important to us)
  • You have a "do what is right" mindset. Integrity is a must!
  • You like a varied work schedule. Event support is a must and the Operations Supervisor will need to lead the team during event seasons.
  • Professionalism: Must maintain a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and overall Block by Block standards of expected professionalism.
  • Physical Abilities: Must have the physical capacity to walk continuously during an eight hour shift, with normal breaks (two fifteen minutes, and one thirty minute meal break). Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear.
  • Communication: Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
  • Computer Skills: Must be proficient in computer usage and in Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruitment, selection of candidates. Onboarding and training of all new Ambassadors. Create a culture that would make everyone want to join your team!
  • Continual adjustments to the deployment of resources to match changing needs. This includes resources of the "human kind." Basically, redeploying according to daily needs.
  • Continual problem identification and solving to improve the quality of the program. Problem solving is a very big part of what our we do. (We need an innovator to lead our team.)
  • Purchasing and inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Reporting outcomes through a variety of reporting channels; (This means spreadsheets, Kronos, Timekeeping, Budgets...you get the idea.)
  • Hands-on working manager in the field to provide coaching, mentoring, and continuous training on standard policies and procedures.
