About The Position

The Operations Supervisor is Werner’s key operations link between the organization, driver, and customer. The primary responsibility in this role is to provide leadership for multiple on-site management teams while working to maximize performance using a range of objective operational and financial measures. The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for the accounts performance, measured by earning acceptable margins, delivering on aggressive growth targets and profitability, while managing and developing the relationship with the customer which includes working to minimize their overall logistics costs. This must be accomplished in conjunction with meeting the key performance indicators (KPI’s) established by Werner and our customer. The Operations Supervisor must be willing and able to travel as needed (estimate 25%).

Responsibilities

  • Ability to comprehend and interpret P & L statements and analyze statements for positive/negative trending and establish sustainable improvement practices.
  • Daily supervision of office personnel (10-100 employees) assigned to respective account.
  • Make sound decisions which provide balance between the customer, driver and Werner which result in a high degree of efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop intimate knowledge of your customer(s). a) Anticipate customer needs and respond promptly to customer requests. b) Resolve customer complaints ensuring customer satisfaction. c) Timely follow-up on challenges/opportunities with existing customers.
  • Overall Account Management of key factors such as account profitability, revenue generation, invoicing, personnel management, driver turnover, fleet sizing, load planning, and direct / onsite customer interaction.
  • Analyze operating procedures and metrics on an ongoing basis and implement improvement plans where appropriate to improve profitability and lower cost.
  • Coordinate ongoing tactical planning initiatives. Understand todays and the next 30-45 days business climate and develop a daily tactical game plan to deliver results.
  • Ability to travel as needed or by request to monitor operational and staff performance including periodic site coverage.
  • Involvement, planning and implementation of new process development and follow-up training.
  • Compile statistical data on each Dedicated Operation to meet Werner and customer key performance expectations.
  • Develop, write, and present monthly, quarterly, or annual reviews to each specific customer.
  • Support and insure the quality of the Dedicated Managers, Fleet Managers, and other onsite staff in the day-to-day management of their accounts. This includes monitoring all Werner Enterprises reporting for the account and working with support departments (billing, recruiting, fleet assignments, pricing, etc.)
  • Daily interface with Customers, Directors, Vice Presidents, and onsite operations staff to ensure delivery of positive results.
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Direct development and performance of staff; follow up with corrections when needed. a) Monitor performance of staff and ensure all procedures are completed to the department standards; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel. b) Provide feedback to staff on their performance; handle disciplinary problems and counsel associate. c) Foster and promote a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and associate morale. d) Prepare and administer timely Performance Evaluations e) Provide role clarity and career development for team members via regular one on one discussions.
  • Manage associate resources as it relates to adequate coverage to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Work well under pressure of organizing and attaining schedules and timelines.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental, divisional, and organizational policies, procedures and standards while promoting a safety culture.
  • Collaborates with others in the organization to identify and implement both local and global creative solutions to improve driver retention.
  • Proficient in AS400
  • Reviews and audITS weekly invoicing for accuracy.
