Operations Shift Supervisor - Marine Traffic

About The Position

This position exists to supervise and lead a team of Operators to maintain and operate the Marine Traffic Unit in an environmentally sound and safe manner while ensuring that we maximize production and minimize cost. Ensure all operators are kept updated on company policy and process knowledge. Ensure that Operators are trained to handle all process situations and that all jobs are done as safely as possible. Serve as Shift Supervisor and relieve other supervisors and handle special projects as needed and assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Chemical Operations as a Chemical Operator (Marine Operations experience preferred)
  • General PC skills such as MS Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • General Mathematic and Writing skills
  • Must have working knowledge of the Marine Shipping Industry, including vessel operations (barge and ship) as well as waterfront facility, maritime technology.
  • Must have good working knowledge of the principles of flow and measurement of liquid.
  • Must be able to understand critical lab result data as it pertains to process control points and environmental control points in the Marine Traffic processes.
  • Must be familiar with all Marine Traffic SOPs
  • Must be familiar with how to implement all environmental health and safety procedures the pertain to Marine Traffic Operations.
  • Operational requirements of 33 CFR 126, 154 and 156 regulated facility
  • Must be familiar with incinerator operations, vpor recovery skids, flares and thermal combustors.
  • Must be familiar with tank and pump operations
  • Must be able to use computers and basic software as well as email
  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of direct job-related experience required.
  • Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
  • Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
  • Leadership training will be required
  • Special training may be required as the job/position needs.

Responsibilities

  • Shift Management: Be accountable for each assigned Operators safety. Be accountable for any permit and OSHA violations for the safe operation of the Marine Traffic department. Assure the safe storage, transfer and loading/unloading product for the units we serve under all circumstances. Accountability for validating operator time records. Oversee and audit lockouts for maintenance work. Be responsible for training operators. Ensure the correct amounts of certified operators are scheduled for a shift. Must be able to handle personnel issues that arise on shift professionally and respectfully.
  • PSM: Take the lead to make sure PSM compliance is maintained in the Marine Traffic department. Use experience to work with PSM Coordinator to ensure PSM procedures are implemented.
  • Lead and Facilitate the Optimization of the Marine Traffic Department: Anticipate needs, work as a problem solver to eliminate blockages and enhance the consistent delivery of quality products that exceed customer expectations. Manage, solve and/or recommend a resolution to discrepancies, deviations, abnormalities, customer complaints, quality and non-quality related issues.
  • Initiate Action and as the Critical Liaison: Coordinate with multiple internal departments, cross-functional representatives, and key external contacts/decision makers on various scenarios.
  • Manage, Analyze, Integrate and Administer Solutions to Improve Efficiency: Gather, compile, analyze, report and make recommendations with critical impact to production planning, credit, quality, logistics and customer service. Comply with company policy/procedures to streamline day-to-day processes, workflow and related practices.
  • Leadership and Staff Development: Coach and lead individual team members and the shifts for continue development.
  • THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.
