About The Position

WIN Waste is currently seeking an Operations Safety Trainer for Landfill Position Summary At least 80% of the time is spent educating, training, and orienting new and current employees on safety procedures to include Pre/Post Trip inspections, defensive driving, OSHA compliance, and safe operation of heavy equipment for hauling, transport, processing, and disposal of solid waste.

Requirements

  • Equivalent of (1) high school diploma or G.E.D certification and 2 years safety related experience and Waste/Transportation Industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to train, influence and motivate team members.
  • Must possess strong planning/organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Teams, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Must meet WIN Waste MVR and trainer Qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Provides New Hire Safety Orientation to all new employees and issues initial PPE to include ordering boots and uniforms.
  • Provides defensive driving training to new and current employees.
  • Ensures training records are maintained and administers appropriate knowledge-based tests to determine employees’ proficiency in company procedures.
  • Execute completion of both digital and hard copy employee training files.
  • Transition new hires over to supervisor with proper documentation to complete a successful On- the-Job Training
  • Increase the level of employee proficiency through initial training, re-training, and effective communication.
  • Provide additional training including but not limited to First Aid/CPR, Forklift, Fire extinguisher, Fall protection.
  • Assist in incident investigations to improve training and correct work practices. Provides retraining for employees following preventable incident.
  • Assist in field safety observations and routine examinations of work areas to promote safe working practices and conditions.
  • Utilize safety and site management to selects teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
  • Maintains continual communication with the GM and Leadership Team regarding inefficiencies in safe work procedures.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain PPE stock for all future NHO classes.
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects assigned by the General Manager.
