About The Position

Assist Ambulance is seeking an experienced Driver Safety Trainer to join our team! Assist is a New York City EMS agency offering a full range of BLS and ALS emergency medical and transportation services throughout the five boroughs. Assist has a proud 30 year history of providing emergency medical services to the diverse and vibrant communities of NYC. Assist Ambulance offers Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support via emergency and non-emergency ambulance transports for various hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, doctor's offices, and community-based organizations.

Requirements

• Must be available Mon-Fri 9a-5p
• Must have a valid driver's license from New York, D-class or above, with an acceptable driving abstract/record
• Must have experience training drivers, commercial preferred, but not required
• Must have experience completing driving assessments for emergency and/or commercial vehicle operation (Certification for the Emergency Vehicle Operator and Volunteer Firefighter's Insurance Service EVO assessments preferred)
• Must have experience professionally coaching and counseling drivers on driving/passenger infractions and accidents
• Must have comfortability using digital data systems for human resource management and automatic vehicle tracking, such as Lytx, Samsara or Motiv
• Must have comfortability writing reports and corresponding via email
• Must have strong time management and organizational skills to oversee driver safety for two organizations

Nice To Haves

• Ideal candidate has a valid EMT or EMTP certification from NYS DOH

Responsibilities

• Conducting VFIS and CEVO driver assessments between 2-8x a month and completing all associated documentation
• Conducting CEVO5 class with candidates for employment and completing all associated documentation
• Reviewing ambulette and ambulance driving for infractions and accidents
• Conducting coaching and counseling sessions with drivers and crewmembers on infractions and accidents, and completing all necessary paperwork
• Traveling to and from our base locations in Brooklyn and Bronx to conduct training and coaching as needed
• Duties are subject to change and are not limited to the ones mentioned on this list
• All employees are required to work two hours past the stated end time of their tour, with or without warning
