Position Summary We are seeking an Operations Safety Coordinator to join our Safety & Compliance team. This role supports the ongoing development and implementation of safety programs, driver qualification standards, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation initiatives across our transportation network. The Operations Safety Coordinator will work closely with drivers and our internal operations teams to ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, Unigroup and company safety policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail, a solid understanding of transportation safety regulations, and a passion for building a strong safety culture.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Transportation, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 1–3 years of experience in transportation safety, compliance, or risk management.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with driver qualification file systems or fleet management platforms.
  • Experience with Tenstreet Driver Application Systems and Samsara ELD systems.
  • Prior experience working with a van line, agent network, or a transportation company.
  • Safety or compliance certifications (e.g., NATMI, CDS, CSS).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor, maintain driver qualification files in compliance with Unigroup, FMCSA and company policy.
  • Develop, monitor, maintain equipment qualification files in compliance with Unigroup, FMCSA and company policy.
  • Coordinate safety training materials and support safety meetings/webinars for Local and long-distance drivers.
  • Analyze safety performance metrics to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
  • Work with drivers on logging violations, missed logs or driver log training.
  • Support DOT compliance reviews and internal audits.
  • Communicate safety policies and regulatory updates to drivers and internal teams.
  • Provide administrative support for Safety Department initiatives and projects.
