About The Position

Position Summary: The Safety Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the organization’s commitment to creating a safe and secure work environment for all employees. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in safety management, assisting with the development, implementation and continuous improvement of safety programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health required. Other related degree programs or equivalent combination of training and industry related experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a safety role required, preferably in the construction industry.
  • OSHA10 or OSHA30 hour course completion required.
  • Understanding of Federal, multi-state and local construction safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with construction and general industry practices, processes and standards.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Excellent team collaboration and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including managerial courage.
  • Ability to recognize areas of safety concern and proactively recommend process improvements.
  • Excellent ability to establish and foster effective professional relationships with others, including employees at all levels of the organization, vendors and contractors.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Work is performed in a variety of settings, including on project sites as well as in the office.
  • Prolonged periods of remaining stationary at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to move about construction worksites frequently.
  • Routine driving on project sites required.
  • Ability to traverse uneven surfaces, climb ladders, bend, kneel, stoop, lift.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
