About The Position

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Operations Manager leads all production activities at the Ennis manufacturing plant. This role partners cross-functionally with EHS, Quality, Maintenance, Shipping & Receiving, Finance, and Human Resources to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. As a key member of the plant leadership team, the Production Operations Manager drives a zero-waste manufacturing culture grounded in continuous improvement and sustainable performance, with accountability for KPIs across Safety, People, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SPQDC).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing, production, or operations leadership; manufacturing environment experience required
  • Demonstrated career progression with the ability to assume increasing levels of responsibility
  • Proven leadership experience, including effective hiring practices, performance management, and leadership development
  • Strong track record of collaborating effectively with technical teams, plant leadership, and hourly manufacturing employees
  • Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and Kaizen problem-solving methodologies, with a strong commitment to operational excellence

Responsibilities

  • Drive measurable improvement in On-Time Delivery performance across assigned product lines
  • Reduce quality defects and improve overall product consistency
  • Increase productivity performance, including Pounds Per Hour (PPH), across assigned product lines
  • Directly responsible for leading the extrusion and manufacturing functions of a high volume, complex production facility with direct and indirect managerial responsibility for hourly employees and Production Supervisors.
  • Drive Lean transformation of assigned manufacturing operations providing direct guidance and leadership to the supervisory and individual teams
  • Standardize all extrusion processes (i.e. color change, changeover) to meet or exceed quality expectations
  • Optimize talent, processes and equipment for cost savings and performance
  • Accountable for conception, initiation and follow through for all extrusion/production problem solving efforts including root cause countermeasures
  • Evaluate, select, retain, train and develop top available talent, building a succession plan for this critical team and facility.
