Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Mechanical maintenance experience is necessary
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (green card holder) or other status as a U.S. Person)
  • Ten years proved leadership experience in the same or related field. Direct operational experience is required for a staff of 8-10. A four-year degree is a plus.
  • Knowledge of: Precision Aerospace Machining, Welding, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Tooling Fabrication, team building, Lean strategies, MRP systems, job costing, and cost reduction. Must be PC literate (spreadsheet, graphics, database, word processing, and other software understanding).
  • Respond effectively to customers, vendors, and others on the phone.
  • Exercise initiative in organizing and completing task assignments.
  • Prioritize work assignments and have the flexibility to change priorities as required.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing with staff, agents, and other internal and external contacts.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers, supervisors, and management.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to speak Spanish is an asset
  • Electrical maintenance experience is an asset
  • A four-year degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision and management of all employees reporting to the manufacturing operation.
  • Develop the leadership team through empowerment and Lean strategies.
  • Provide vision to the manufacturing operation and direct change.
  • Drive cost avoidance and cost reduction efforts in the operation.
  • Fully implement the capacity management tool to manage direct labor and equipment resources.
  • Fully implement the strategies of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Drive automation within the operation.
  • Drive the responsibility of quality down to the operator, using error-proofing and visible quality control techniques to prevent defects.
  • Maintain 98% or a better on-time delivery percentage to our customers.
  • Maintain a 100% safe shop.
  • Implement a system of metrics to hold the operation accountable
  • Supervising the manufacturing team, making sure that we fully utilize the talent and capability in each individual, as well as training and developing them to improve deficiencies.
  • Maximizing product flow through the use of Lean techniques.
  • Preparing reports, metrics, performance reviews, and other documents using Microsoft Office. Sitting, bending, stooping, climbing, reaching up to 6 feet high, and moving quickly through the office and shop floor to address any variety of operational issues.
  • Answering the telephone, communicating with, and assisting customers, contractors, vendors, and other callers.
  • Written communications with your peers, subordinates, and superiors.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
