You will be a key player in directing daily production while working together with hourly and salary personnel. This includes building relationships with the EHS, materials, quality, engineering, and other production supervisors. How will you make a difference? As a Production Supervisor, you will support the daily operations of the assigned departments to ensure reliability and consistency on the production floor. The Supervisor is responsible for safely leading a team to assemble products to Wabtec’s quality standards. The Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring that his/her team is working safely, efficiently, and effectively, providing high-quality products and customer service to our customers and Wabtec’s stakeholders. This position requires working onsite.

Requirements

  • High School graduate, or general education degree required and three years minimum experience in a manufacturing environment, three as a manufacturing supervisor, are required.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team of manufacturing workers.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people at all levels, educational background, etc., are essential.
  • Must be able to use excel/PowerPoint/ word documents.
  • Ability to run reports
  • Strong organizational and managerial skills required.
  • Safety will be a key measurable and your ability to maintain and foster a safe departmental workspace will be key
  • Possess basic ship math skills, and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Possess computer skills that will enable you to communicate effectively via email, navigate ERP system, and work in various Microsoft Office tools.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Good knowledge and training experience (e.g., safety, quality, manufacturing tools & techniques, standards, regulations) will also be helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain safety procedures and conditions to prevent accidents and provide a safe workplace.
  • You will be required to participate in all site safety initiatives and focus on leading indicators to drive departmental safety performance.
  • Ensure all employees follow the safety rules and standards to achieve zero lost time accidents and OSHA Recordables.
  • Hire, train and evaluate manufacturing workers, monitor workers to ensure they meet performance and safety requirements.
  • Attend the daily production meeting and give input along with helping the team remove roadblocks that is causing a loss of production.
  • You must be a problem solver in this area and will be required to collaborate with your peers to ensure departmental deliverables are met (including Customer On Time Delivery, Late Back Order Reduction, Standard Hours, Time on Product, Internal Plan Attainment, etc.).
  • Establish and implement daily, weekly, and monthly safety and housekeeping audits with a schedule in all your areas.
  • Review the daily reports from planning to determine what can be produced for the day.
  • Determine optimal utilization of manufacturing workers and equipment to meet manufacturing goals.
  • Supervise staff including hiring, employee communications, training, discipline, evaluation, and terminations responsibilities.
  • You must maintain a high level of communication with your team and lead daily shift start up meetings.
  • Drive customer satisfaction through detailed focus on product reliability and quality.
  • Provide direction and support for an assigned hourly production team encompassing EHS, Quality, Material, Process, and Delivery.
  • Help motivate all employees in his/her production team to perform their duties using established procedures to meet or exceed goals.
  • Lead and support all Continual Improvement and LEAN Activities.
  • Ownership of the department’s equipment, tooling, fixtures, key manufacturing processes, products, and productivity.
  • Ensure all company policies are followed and take corrective actions accordingly.
  • Work with the Team Leads to develop and execute training plans for all operators to ensure they have the skills needed to do their jobs and are sufficiently cross trained to optimize resource usage safely and correctly.
  • Provide clear and accurate communication to the work group.
  • Ensure follow-up on issues and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot and solve operation problems when identified.
  • Promote culture of teamwork, continual improvement, and collaborate problem solving.
  • Identify opportunities to increase employee engagement, motivation, and collaboration across work groups.
  • Responsible for all Time and Attendance functions.
