About The Position

The Operations Finance Manager leads the evaluation of all aspects of Cost of Goods Sold within the organization. This role leads the Operational Finance team to provide strategic leadership and clear communication in support of operational results. The Operations Finance Manager role partners closely with Operations and Executive Leadership to drive financial visibility and influence decisions. A high-quality candidate will be proficient in Cost Accounting, financial reporting, expense analysis and accruals, process evaluation and presenting actionable insights based on analysis. This role will lead the accounting close responsibilities across multiple operational locations and report directly to the CFO.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related.
  • 5+ years of professional finance or accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with accounting/financial reporting and ERP systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook and ability to learn new software tools.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP or MRP.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong grounding in financial theory, cost accounting and/or investment analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; adjusts communication style to meet the needs at various levels within organization.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities and meet deadlines. Prioritizes appropriately.
  • Ability to collaborate with coworkers and successfully operate in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team. Provides clear direction and sufficient resources while removing or reducing obstacles to team success.
  • Ability to develop a strong understanding of production processes and capabilities, how data is captured and used internally to make decisions.
  • Ability to travel as needed. Must possess valid driver’s license (insurable with good driving record).
  • If remote, must have access to reliable internet and ability to travel as needed
  • Must be a US Person as defined by ITAR/EAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident or any individual who is granted status as a “protected person”

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Operations Finance team by providing training, clear communication, accountability, and opportunities for growth.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication with team members while ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
  • Oversee plant accounting activities, including: Gross profit analysis Production variance research Month end close and financial statement preparation Product costing and analysis Monthly inventory planning and target management Ensure accuracy and timeliness of plant financial results.
  • Manage recurring reporting, including: Operational metrics (labor efficiency, scrap, cost, etc.) Customer profitability analysis and drivers Inventory analysis compared to targets
  • Oversee preparation of the weekly and monthly key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Implement controls and targets to measure relative operational performance.
  • Lead the operational production activity analysis for both budget and quarterly forecast across all divisions. This includes direct interaction with 8 different locations in Shelbyville, KY, Jeffersonville, IN and Sharon PA.
  • Prepare financial feasibility analyses for topline growth investment opportunities.
  • Apply financial concepts such as cash flow analysis, DCF, IRR, NPV, payback, cost of capital, and lease vs. buy analysis.
  • Lead ad hoc strategic projects, such as cost saving initiatives, capacity evaluations, and capital efficiency assessments.
