About The Position

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and passionate Operations Duty Manager to join our team at The Whitby Hotel. Working closely with the General Manager and departmental leaders, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the hotel. This is a hands-on, dynamic role requiring ambition, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to a wide range of operational scenarios across Events, Food & Beverage, Front Office, Housekeeping, and the Kitchen.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Duty Manager or Head of Department within a 5-star hotel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a passion for high standards
  • Strong leadership and motivational abilities
  • Resilient, proactive, and solution-focused approach

Nice To Haves

  • Previous knowledge of Micros and Opera systems is desirable
  • FSD and CPR/AED certification or experience is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between the General Manager, guests, and the operational teams
  • Oversee daily hotel operations, ensuring exceptional service standards are consistently delivered
  • Monitor and maintain service quality across all departments
  • Ensure the security of the hotel and its guests at all times
  • Conduct regular health and safety checks and ensure compliance
  • Handle and manage incidents or accidents involving guests or staff
  • Build strong, professional relationships with guests
  • Meet and greet VIP guests and act as their primary point of contact when required
  • Provide operational support to all departments as needed
