Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or Related Field.
  • Aptitude to complete formal classroom and on-the-job training assignments to gain understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards, and their impact on projects.
  • Introductory knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and general profit/loss terms.
  • Ability to learn complex estimating software and processes.
  • Experienced in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Bid Pipeline Management: Monitor electronic bid platforms such as Power Advocate, SAP Ariba, Procore, and SJI/ETG and direct emails daily to identify and triage new opportunities.
  • Initial Scoping: Review RFP documents to develop concise project summaries for the Estimating Manager to support Bid/No-Bid decision-making.
  • Bid Intent & Communication: Formally notify customers of bid intentions, while ensuring the platform is updated with the required reasoning and documentation.
  • Proposal Development: Partner with the estimating team to write and compile formal proposals. Act as a primary problem solver, ensuring all client-specific requests, clarifications, and unique bid requirements are fully addressed.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Work closely with subcontractors to collect and integrate all necessary data, pricing, and documentation required to build a comprehensive proposal.
  • Governance & Compliance: Execute the mandatory procedure for reviewing bids based on their specific Level and Value across Levels 1 through 5, ensuring all regional and corporate review requirements are met.
  • Document Control: Actively monitor portals for project updates or Q&A. Ensure all internal files and stakeholders are updated with the latest addenda in real-time.
  • Salesforce & Schedule Management: Own the master estimating schedule. Enter all bids into Salesforce and maintain real-time updates on project values, margins, and status.
  • Reporting & Follow-up: Prepare and present the bid schedule during weekly regional estimating meetings and proactively follow up with clients on the status of all submitted projects.
  • Project Award & Hand-off: Upon winning a bid, create the official Project Portal and prepare a comprehensive transition package for the Project Manager (PM), including the final estimate, subcontractor quotes, and all necessary project documentation.
  • Administrative Compliance: Handle all mandatory bid documentation, including pre-qualification forms, safety documents, bonding requests, and insurance requirements.
  • Contract Execution: Facilitate the legal review process for awarded contracts and ensure all stakeholders receive necessary documentation to transition from bid to project set-up.
