About The Position

Seeking applicants residing local to our Southern Region (Florida, Jackson, Gulf Coast, New Orleans, Memphis & Houston) to coordinate field operations for Praying Pelican Missions' ministry in the Southern locations. Recruit, plan and lead Christian mission teams for service alongside host church partners and locally run ministries. Facilitate life-changing experiences! SUMMARY The Operations Coordinator demonstrates expertise and core competency in primary responsibilities of recruiting, consulting and trip leading. The Operations Coordinator demonstrates and promotes the teaching and spreading of the Christian faith by leading prayers and devotion, reading scripture, and leading in ministry, while demonstrating PPM's mission of partnership with the local Christian church in serving others and advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Operations Coordinator, with primary field operations emphasis, is responsible for fiscal accountability, mission planning, logistics and implementation, local staff recruitment and oversight, and representation to partners and other key stakeholders, ensuring compliance with relevant expectations and accountabilities in assigned location(s).

  • Diplomacy, negotiating skills.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from accredited college or university; or a minimum of 2 to 4 years' related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present information to church organizations, leaders and public groups. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, or members of the church and business community.
  • Fluent spoken and written English required.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to meet the scheduling requirements of the position including, but not limited to, work overtime as necessary, travel 30% of the time and possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Missions Recruiting & Consulting
  • Provide vision and leadership in day-to-day recruitment and consulting activities to prepare and equip participants to serve and ensure strong partner care.
  • Meet or exceed assigned recruiting, call/contact, and renewal goals.
  • Coordinate trip setup in assigned location(s) and complete associated communications accordingly.
  • Endeavor to attend all conference calls, recruiting meetings, trainings, etc. as scheduled.
  • Guide assigned group leaders through trip preparation, providing regular support adhering to standards and guidelines set forth by PPM.
  • Develop customized itineraries to ensure the goals of the host partner are met.
  • Provide timely communication of trip details to all teams you are consulting and leading.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records, including Capstone call documentation and logging Mission Control notes.
  • Ensure long-term partnership by renewing past teams through Mission Control and meeting team renewal goals.
  • Trip Leadership & Field Operations
  • Lead Christ-centered mission teams with excellence, adhering to standards and guidelines set forth by PPM.
  • Lead a minimum of seven PPM Mission trips per year, staying on site with teams for the entirety of the trip experience.
  • Provide professional representation for PPM with location pastors, mission trip Group Leaders and team members, and area organizations.
  • Ensure safety and security protocols are followed, including incident response options.
  • Coordinate ministry activities with identified partners in ministry location.
  • Exercise fiscal responsibility in use of resources available.
  • Adhere to the Policy Agreement and Standards and Guidelines set forth by PPM.
  • See that all leadership team members follow the listed guidelines on each trip as identified in the leadership team handbook.
  • Partner Advocacy & Location Delegations
  • Support location operations leadership in carrying out established location delegations through individual accountability and the training and guidance to leadership team members.
  • Location delegations include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Conduct Partner Care trimesterly communication
  • Networking to add new pastors & partners; casting PPM vision
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings with key ministry leaders and partners
  • Assist in seasonal staff training
  • Facilitate host pastor and staff reviews
  • Assign trip staff in partnership with the operations leader
  • Assign trip location/partners in partnership with the operations leader
  • Assign trip consultants in partnership with the operations leader
  • Support local hiring initiative and training in partnership with Operations and HR
  • Negotiate key food, lodging, transportation costs each year in partnership with operations leader to ensure location budget management
  • Complete expense reports within 30 days of the trip ending
  • Log all partner communication in Roots database
  • Position Management
  • Further develop initiative and spiritual, interpersonal and organizational skills to equip you to partner with PPM in furthering the Kingdom of God and serving our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Be an advocate for Praying Pelican Missions and its employees. Promote a positive image of PPM, build trust and rapport with all staff members, and be an affirming and encouraging team member at all times.
  • Serve as primary contact for identified areas of expertise and leadership as an Operations Coordinator.
  • Spend time daily in prayer and in scripture for PPM and all the avenues PPM covers.
  • Attend all major PPM staff events, including the spring conference, department meetings, training events and mandatory all-staff meetings.
  • Participate in a yearly review meeting with supervisor.
  • Meet regularly with supervisor to enhance communications and allow for input and coordination to promote success with assigned Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Complete monthly performance reporting as directed.
  • Participate in PPM scheduled recruiting meetings in person or via conference call.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled Foundation and Prayer calls.
  • Respond to all communication with coworkers via internal messaging system promptly.
  • Church Sponsorship & Fundraising
  • Develop and encourage support for the Church Sponsorship program and priorities through strong Christian witness among colleagues, mission participants, ministry partners, and the general public.
