FLSA Status: Exempt OPEX and Safety Goal The goal of OPEX is to drive operational efficiencies by reducing operating expenses, improving worker productivity, streamlining / standardizing processes, and enriching customer service quickly and cost-effectively. Strategically, OPEX will improve operating margins and create a competitive advantage over our competition. Role The Operational Excellence Manager role's primary objective is to create, promote and sustain a lean culture at all levels of our organization. Reporting directly to the Director of OPEX, the Operational excellence person leverages the experience of line workers and local management to identify opportunities, jointly improve the operation and positively impact the bottom line. Job Requirements Implement Standard Best Practices and achieve material cost savings as identified by Business Analytics Team and OpEx Task Force. Train and establish standardization on basic principles of Lean, identify tools needed for plant improvement and help on implementation. Standardize SOP (standard operating procedures), project charter, method sheet, self-measurement, and evaluation process for plant use. Help implement and train associates at the plants, with the priority plants with the most potential of savings first (manage by exception). Summary: Plans, directs, and implements organization safety program to ensure safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment by performing the following duties personally or through supervisors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, new hire orientation and other materials. Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures were indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions. Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies. Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs. Maintains safety files and records, both written and in the computer. Qualification
