About The Position

As part of Intersect’s Corporate Finance team, you’ll help ensure the accuracy, integrity, and scalability of financial operations while shaping how accounting supports a growing energy portfolio. This role blends operational leadership with deep technical accounting expertise, enabling strong financial reporting, efficient close processes, and well-supported business decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 5–7+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in Big 4 public accounting (audit)
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience with SOX compliance
  • Experience managing accounting processes and delivering accurate, timely results
  • Ability to independently research complex accounting issues and clearly document conclusions
  • Experience working with G-Suite and strong Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, SUMIF, VLOOKUP)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • A collaborative, detail-oriented mindset and a drive to continuously improve processes and outcomes will help you succeed

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with accounting systems such as Sage Intacct is helpful
  • Experience in the energy industry is helpful
  • CPA or Master’s degree in Accounting is helpful

Responsibilities

  • Oversee general ledger and settlements activities across the energy portfolio, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • Drive improvements to the month-end close process to enable faster, more reliable reporting
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting systems and workflows, leveraging automation and technology to increase efficiency
  • Perform and oversee internal controls to support compliance and reporting integrity
  • Mentor, coach, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and accountable environment
  • Provide performance management, training, and ongoing development opportunities
  • Continuously assess team structure and responsibilities to align with evolving business needs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support organizational goals and ensure alignment on financial processes
  • Lead and contribute to ad hoc projects that support business growth and operational improvements
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on US GAAP, researching and applying guidance to complex and non-standard transactions
  • Lead technical accounting analyses across areas such as revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, leases, consolidations, and impairments
  • Prepare clear, well-documented accounting memos and conclusions for internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor and update accounting policies to ensure compliance with evolving standards and internal control requirements
  • Support the annual audit process and external reporting requirements
