About The Position

Primary purpose: Manager level position providing volumetric and financial accounting support to the company’s water pipeline segment. Position will be responsible for regulatory and GAAP reporting related to the gross margin components of the water segment. Role requires a strong knowledge of the energy industry, water operations and water operating and financial systems.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline
  • Experience/Specific Knowledge: A minimum of six (6) years of experience actively involved in a relevant and related role
  • Understanding the accounting and reporting of transactions for GAAP
  • Must have a fundamental understanding of accounting and financial principles
  • Advanced understanding and demonstrated ability with computerized accounting systems, financial modeling, budgets, operating analysis, and management reporting.
  • Previous experience with SOX controls and processes
  • Intermediate level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Certifications, Licenses & Registrations: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
  • Competencies, Skills & Abilities: Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, verbal and written.
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.

Nice To Haves

  • Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
  • Eight (8) years of experience actively involved in a relevant and related role
  • Familiarity and experience with Oracle software.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Prior oil and gas industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate recording and/or approval of journal entries, on a monthly and as needed basis
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial close
  • Oversight and final approval of customer billing process
  • Approve account reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly forecast and other FP&A tasks
  • Prepare and analyze financial results and provide clear explanations into causes of variance and fluctuations in operating results
  • Growth planning, including but not limited to: Accounting Research, Commercial Support, and Process Design/Implementation.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing process and accounting explanations, preparing data requests, developing and maintaining appropriate SOX controls
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings in accordance with regulatory guidance.
  • Prepare and/or review various tax related requests to supplement multiple tax filings
  • Develop annual budget related to gross margin and deficiencies and prepare overall budget package
  • Develop and implement process and policy improvements and efficiencies
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with various departments necessary to gather and exchange accounting related data
  • Interact with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance
  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the public
