Under general direction of the Director/Manager of Plant operations, or their liaison, shift operator, who is responsible for operation, maintenance, installation and replacement of utility production and distribution systems. Items such as chillers, HVAC, boilers, electrical distribution, medical gas, fire protection, pneumatic/DDC controls, Energy Management, water chemical treatment, etc., in a safe, effective, and efficient manner in response to or in support of customer needs. Responsible for installing and maintaining dust barrier when performing job duties. Must fill out completed work orders and/or daily time sheets and turn them in daily. Monitors and maintains required supplies and tools in a neat and orderly fashion insuring that proper inventory is maintained, tools are functioning properly and readily accessible and that the work/production areas are in a clean and neat manner as evidenced by management or regulatory observation. Notify management of needed supplies in a timely manner by filling out material request forms. Essential Functions Responsible for responding to house calls in a timely manner. Responsible for completion of operational logs, reports, corrective and preventive work orders Responsible for handling off-hours shift and weekend calls by contacting necessary hospital staff, coordinating with hospital personnel or by contacting outside service companies. Monitoring hospital equipment—making and logging necessary adjustments. Assist/supervise contractors as necessary when making repairs or working in building. Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis. Performs other duties as assigned.
