About The Position

This is shift work monitoring the LSUHSC -NO building mechanical and energy management system, making rounds to visually inspect building systems and making repairs as assigned. OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION Possession of (or the ability to possess within three 3 months of hire) an Orleans Parish 2nd class Stationary Engineer’s Certificate for steam boilers and at a minimum a 2nd class Stationary Engineer’s Certificate for air conditioning. As of November 14, 1994, employees must possess the appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990). Must be available to serve as sole operator for assigned shift work during evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays. Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of building mechanical and energy management systems. Skill in the operation, maintenance and repair of building mechanical and energy management systems. Ability to operate, maintain and repair building mechanical and energy management systems. Ability to use hand tools and power tools and equipment properly. Ability to read and clearly understand blueprints. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to carry, erect, climb and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds; work in tight and awkward spaces; work off of roofs, cat walks, and other elevated areas. Ability to carry or otherwise move loads of 50 pounds or more (pipe, wire, tool boxes, etc.). Ability to understand and apply University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and within extreme temperature ranges. Visual ability, corrected, to observe people and/or vehicles moving through the work area in order to redirect work or equipment to avoid injuries to the people or damage to the vehicles. Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
