UCSF Cancer Services is expanding its outpatient medical oncology, surgical oncology, and infusion services at the new Berkeley Outpatient Center. Position Overview The Nurse Practitioner will provide direct outpatient oncology care and clinical support for infusion patients and nursing teams . Working closely with UCSF physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and support staff, the NP will manage patient care across the cancer care continuum in an ambulatory setting.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing recognized Nurse Practitioner Program with a master’s or doctoral degree aligned with the patient population and clinical role
  • Three (3) years of recent experience or more related NP experience in adult oncology practice and one (1) year working experience in breast surgical oncology
  • Triage experience
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations and in varying schedules as outlined
  • Skill to perform complex physical assessments
  • Ability to work with all healthcare providers
  • Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work. Accepted Certifications for this position: Adult Outpatient ( A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC)
  • Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
  • Complete a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
  • Complete Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
  • Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day.
  • CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
  • Current AHA BLS.
  • State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice
  • UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day.
  • Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical database entry
  • Familiar with Epic/Apex electronic charting system
  • Experience in Breast Plastic Surgery
  • California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient assessments, follow-ups, and symptom management
  • Implement and manage oncology treatment protocols (e.g., chemotherapy)
  • Support infusion services before, during, and after treatments
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
  • Provide patient education and ensure high-quality standards
