About The Position

Under the general direction of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Technician will assist the Facilities team with day-to-day tasks/requests and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of facilities, and grounds. This position is on-site in our Bloomington, IL office. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or general education Degree (GED) and 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Occasional weekend work and before/after-hours work will be required.
  • Ability to be on call 24/7 will be required.
  • Knowledge of reading blueprints.
  • Previous knowledge and abilities in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, and painting is required.
  • Proficient understanding and proper use of hand and power tools is required.
  • Understand, exhibit, identify, and use appropriate safety procedures in all aspects of work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and computers/related applications is required.
  • Possess strong customer service, inter-personal, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must demonstrate safe working habits, performing proactively and ability to mitigate and control emergency conditions effectively.
  • Must have a reliable insured vehicle with valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Incumbent must be able to push/pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Incumbent must also be able to bend, squat, reach above shoulders, and maneuver body in awkward positions for periods of time. Incumbent must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.  Incumbent must have the ability to climb ladders and be on roof tops.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with safety systems is preferred.
  • Previous experience in dealing with vendors is preferred.
  • Knowledge of office furniture repair is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance to the interior/exterior of facilities including, but not limited to, restrooms, break rooms, sidewalks, and lobby.  Perform basic repairs and maintenance of building and equipment such as chairs, tables, doors, light fixtures, floor tiles, walls, pipes/plumbing, vents, ceiling tiles, picnic tables, awnings, and move file cabinets, hang pictures, banners, and decorations. Help keep facilities and ground free of trash and debris. Assist with preparations for on-site events.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and research mechanical issues in order to repair and/or provide recommendations to solve issues. Meet with vendors who provide maintenance to HVAC systems, fire, backflow, plumbing, electrical, security, and generator systems.
  • Install/maintain cabling and hardware for CCTV and access control systems. Test door alarms and emergency lighting; replace batteries as needed.
  • Work with vendors and fuel distributors on preventative maintenance plans. Inspect and perform weekly generator maintenance tests.
  • Work with maintenance vendors for mowing, trees, shrubs, bedding areas, and ice removal.
  • Maintain and control inventory of essential supplies. Handle pick up and deliveries as needed.
