We are seeking an experienced On-Premise Area Manager to lead and develop a high-performing sales team focused on bars, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues. This role is critical in driving wine and spirits sales through distributor partnerships and direct account relationships, ensuring flawless execution of strategic initiatives, and delivering profitable growth in the Texas region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of sales experience, with 5+ years in wine/spirits industry.
  • 5+ years of managerial experience leading a sales team.
  • Proven success in On-Premise sales and distributor management.
  • Strong understanding of pricing and cost structures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to lift and carry 40+ lb cases of wine.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings/weekends; ability to travel within region.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong work ethic and resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Leadership & Market Execution Spend approximately 70% of the week in the market (3–4 days) working alongside sales reps.
  • Provide on-the-job training for new hires and assist with account transitions and new account generation.
  • Set annual, monthly, and quarterly case goals for reps; monitor progress and address performance concerns promptly.
  • Ensure proper execution of pricing, margins, and brand priorities in all accounts.
  • Drive new account acquisition and personally open high-value accounts.
  • Team Development & Management Recruit, interview, and onboard new sales talent; create and manage sales routes.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative team environment; address concerns professionally and timely.
  • Cover routes during PTO or absences to maintain continuity of service.
  • Supplier & Event Coordination Organize and execute supplier visits, ride-alongs, dinners, and events; ensure inventory and logistics are in place.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and deliver impactful market results.
  • Administrative & Operational Responsibilities Review sales orders and pricing for accuracy.
  • Manage accounts receivable collections.
  • Respond promptly to all internal and external communications.
  • Prepare thoroughly for sales and supplier meetings (materials, agendas, samples, glassware).
